Wearing Your Special Occasion Jewelry Every Day

For many people with fine jewelry, especially special occasion jewelery, such as fine strand of pearls, diamond earrings, cocktail ring, ornate brooch, they only choose to wear their fine pieces for select occasions.

Jewelry is meant to be adorned, adored and worn to the max. If you consider how much you invested and how often you wear a certain piece, are you getting the most pleasure out of it?

Now, of course, I am not suggesting that you wear your fancy jewels when you go out bowling or grocery shopping, but if you stop and think of all the other times you can be enjoying your jewelry, you will discover how much more pleasure they will bring to you rather than having them hidden and worn for only special occasions--jewels are meant to be worn.

The brooch pictured above, was worn on the lapel of a jean jacket as well as for formal events, by the previous owner. This was a treasured piece that she wore every opportunity that she could.

Clothes need accessories to complete their look. Certain outfits need a very polished look by adding a pearl strand. Your diamond earrings will add such elegant and class to any outfit you wear.

Look at your jewelry in a different way, be adventurous and daring and don't limit yourself to how often you can wear your beautiful jewels.

Open your jewelry box and explore all the new possibilities. Digg Technorati Delicious StumbleUpon Reddit BlinkList Furl Mixx Facebook Google Bookmark Yahoo

The Significance of Giving and Wearing Symbolic Jewelry

s

Your first piece of symbolic jewelry could have been given to you at your Christening or to your mother to mark your birth.

Symbolic jewelry represents or signifies a special occasion, accomplishment, celebration, to honour someone, achievement, awareness of a cause or stand.

Religious medallions, Diploma's, Numbers, Child's Profile, Sayings are examples of symbolic pieces of jewelery.

Many are engarved with special and personal inscriptions, including the date to commemerate the occasion.

They speak volumes when given--"I am proud of you", "Welcome to the World, Oh Precious One", "Congratulations on Your Achievements/Graduation", "You've Reached a Milestone".

One of my dearest and most cherished pieces is my first tooth that is encased in a gold setting and is worn as a charm on my bracelet.

For the person giving it to you, it symbolizes for them, what you mean to them, how proud they are of you, they stand by you and support you, they honour you.

When a person wears a symbolic piece, it is part of who they are--a collage of their life. You wear them throughout your lifetime. They are conversation pieces too, especially if the symbol is unique. A story begins to unfold as you relive experiences and share your stories with people. Good memories, shared memories--a reflection of your past--eternal in your heart.

The picture of the sterling silver keys up above are examples of symbolic jewelry.

The KEY can symbolize the KEY to one's heart, the KEY of life, hard work is the KEY of success and so on. Digg Technorati Delicious StumbleUpon Reddit BlinkList Furl Mixx Facebook Google Bookmark Yahoo

Making a "Statement" With Your Statement Jewelry

Are you trying to make a statement? This question can be interpreted in many different contexts--whether through dress, accessory, a comment made, a stand taken, etc.
When you make a statement with jewelry, you are sending a message. Depending on the type of jewelery you wear, it can for example define your personality, that you take a stand on an issue (especially if it is a symbolic piece of jewelry that you are wearing), it can send a message, or there is a meaning behind it.
It can be in any form of jewelery, whether it is an elaborate neck piece, brooch, ring, but usually, the piece is eye catching and is a conversation piece. In other words, it is a piece that stimulates conversation because it stands out in size, color, design, or meaning.
Michele Obama, wears many statement pieces. She can wear a large single brooch, or intertwined multi strands of pearls and they will be noticed by everyone because they are worn individually, are bold and stand out.
When you open a magazine next time, take a look at how models wear a single piece of jewelry that stand out in the photo. What caught your attention about it? That single piece of jewelry is making a statement.
Wearing a statement piece of jewelry, should stand not be worn in conjunction with too many other pieces.
What is your favorite statement?

Two-Tone Jewelry - Gold/Silver - Compliment Each Other For Upcoming Season

Combining your gold and silver jewelry is sure to be a big hit for the upcoming fall season. Whether you wear a gold/silver bangle bracelet on one arm, or gold ring on one finger and a silver ring on the other--they look stylish and very classic.

As well, gold/silver combined jewelry and watches are also very popular since you can wear either type of jewelry with them. Many automatic watches, as an example, are made from stainless steel and have silver/gold accents. Certain watches that are stainless steel have silver/gold accents. A very beautiful combination is wearing a watch with a bracelet on the same wrist.

If you have some silver/gold chains that are the same length, try intertwining them to look as one chain.

If you have an antique or vintage wedding band that is yellow gold, try pairing it with a silver band for an updated and oh so tres chic look.

Open your jewelry box and see what unique combination and ideas you can come up with.

A Simple Way to Add A New Look to Your Fine Gold/Silver Chains

If you have a link or flat chain, it most likely has a jump ring or lobster hook closure, which rests on the back of your neck or sometimes, because of movement, slides forward.

A simple way to update your chain and give it a more elegant look is to replace the closures with a clasp. You typically see decorative clasps on fine pearls and other fine beads, however, if you have a chain that you wear it a lot, why not update the closure by replace it with a clasp. It will definitely give your chain, whether gold or silver, a new look and increase its value.

You would be able to wear the clasp in the front, positioning it to the side or to the center for a diverse look.

A thought, if you have an odd pair of stud earrings or if a gentlemen member of your family has a tie pin that he doesn't wear, you could have a jeweler make the base for your clasp and have one of these pieces as the decorative top. All About Ring Guards

It can become quite costly to have your gold or silver rings resized. A ring guard, can be a temporary fix for some ring wearers, or depending on the type of ring, can be your best friend too.

Here are some reasons why to consider a ring guard:

If you have a large stone ring, chances are that the ring spins on your finger. A ring guard will prevent the stone from turning.

If you have arthritis or joint pains in your knuckles, your rings might be sized larger to get them over your knuckles, but then they spin.

If your weight fluctuates, your finger sizes changes and you are limited to wearing your rings.

Do you retain more water, especially during the summer, your fingers will swell.

If a child has a ring that is many sizes too large, the child would have to wait years to grown into it.

Ring guards are available in gold, silver, and metal and can be installed by a jeweler. Once a jewelery adds it to your rings, you push up or down in the middle of the guard to adjust it to the required size. Why Artisan Jewelry Appeals to Many People

Artisan jewelry is as unique as your signature since each artisan jeweler has their own distinctive style and design.
Many artisan jewelers work with unique metals, other than gold and silver.
You can always recognize a well known artisan jeweler's piece because of their distinctive features.
One artisan might work with a combination of metals in their designs, i.e. gold and silver, while another one uses very unique crystals and other beautiful and uncommon gems.
Artisan jewelery is also very affordable and it doesn't have anything to do with 'starving artists'. Many artisan jewelers work for themselves and work from their own studios, therefore, they can keep their expenses to a minimal, which is reflected in the final price of a piece of jewelry.
If you like one-of-a-kind jewelry, jewelry that you won't see on every 10th person, have a limited budget, like the unusual, then artisan jewelery will appeal to you.
There are many artisan jewelers who show their crafts at local craft shows, especially around Christmas time. There are also many wonderful sites like Ruby Lane and Etsy where you will find an abundant of talented artisans.

Unique Tips for Wearing Brooches

There are some very unique ways to wear a brooch besides wearing it traditionally on the right color of your shirt.

Wearing brooches in multiples is very popular. If you have several similar brooches, i.e. theme brooches--e.g. animals, stars, moons, cluster and space them apart. The smaller ones could surround a larger one.

Or if you have several different ones, see which ones would compliment each other in color, size, shape.

Besides wearing a brooch on shirt collar, you can wear them on blazer, sweater, dress.

If you have a skirt with a slit, a brooch or brooches can hold or close it together. A brooch can temporarily replace a missing button. If you have a blazer that has a button at the cuff, why not remove the button and affix a brooch--oh so chic!
This is one fashion accessory that can be worn with everything and is the finishing touch for any outfit you wear.

Tips About Earring Purchases and Wear

We all love earrings, as they are such a vital part of a woman's jewelery collection. There are a few things that you should know.....

The earrings that you just purchased or received as a gift should have the closure cleaned with an alcohol swab—this will kill any bacteria. You do not know who tried on those earrings before you.

When putting on earrings, especially studs, most people press their index finger against the stone while pushing in the butterfly. It is wise to put a tissue over the surface of the stone as you apply the closure since your finger leaves an impression on the stone’s surface and takes away from the brilliance, sparkle and shine of the stone.

If you have post and butterfly earrings, the butterfly should not glide on too easily, but rather should be pushed on the post. If it glides too easily, it can also slip off easily and you would lose your earrings.
